Company: Consolidated Sewing / Unlimited Parts & Supply
Type of Project: Facility Design & Inventory Slotting Strategy.
Size: 50,000 SKUS in 40,000 square feet.
Location: Carlstadt, NJ
Objectives: Spearhead a facility migration from a low ceiling, multi floor, midtown business in New York City's garment district, to a modern high ceiling distribution center in Northern NJ. Establish a lean, small parts inventory strategy along with a re-engineered work flow process. Deliver a streamlined facility design for delivering industry leading service in a new forty thousand square foot building.
Results: Reconfigured work flow and product slotting to achieve higher storage density and more accurate order fulfillment. Using inventory analytics based on order hit rates along with the time and motion of labor and equipment, a greatly enhanced work flow was designed and
implemented on time and on budget. The new solution minimized space requirements and integrated material handling equipment and process based solutions to improve service and reduce labor costs.
